90% of people who visit Yosemite never leave its valley. But there is so much to see in Yosemite's high country of Tuolumne Meadows. you can avoid the crowds if you hit the trails! Walk the well marked trails or get on a horse to conquer one. There are lakes filled with fish waiting to be caught. A beautiful drive to Glacier Point will allow you to not only see Yosemite Valley, but the high Sierra Nevada Mountain Range that surrounds it.

Yosemite is know for its high concentration of waterfalls in one park. You can walk to the base of several waterfalls or walk all the way to the top of one. Some waterfalls are seasonal depending on the snowmelt that year and others flow year round.

Yosemite has more than 800 miles of hiking trails. There are hikes that are easy, moderate and very challenging. SeeYosemite. com will give you the details to most of the trails. We give you information about river rafting in the park and whitewater rafter just outside the park. There are three horseback riding stables if you want to ride on a horse or a mule. We give details about where to rent bikes in the summer and snowshoes in the winter.

Yosemite has Badger Pass Ski Resort inside this national park if you like to ski in the winter. Badger Pass is the first California ski resort and perfect at teaching those who have never skiied before how to ski. Wide open spaces with some of the best ski instructors ever to be found. Downhill skiing, cross country skiing and snowshoeing are fun winter activities to do here. Those advanced at cross country skiing can ski to a europena ski hut inside the park and ski out the next day. Yosemite Valley also has an outdoor ice skating rink at Curry Village during the winter months.

Wawona Hotel is located inside Yosemite. In front of the hotel is a 9 hole golf course waiting to be played. Next to the historic hotel is Pioneer Village which is a living history center. Horse stables are nearby and there is a stagecoach available to take you through the area.

There are three groves of big trees inside Yosemite National Park. These giant sequoia trees are some of the oldest and tallest living trees on earth. Their thick bark has protected them from being destroyed in many fires over the years. You can walk through the big trees or you can take a tram through the trees and listen to a guide telling you about them.

The Ahwahnee Hotel is a five star resort inside Yosemite National Park. It has massive ceilings and huge fireplaces for your comfort. World renowned chefs are brought in to cook in their restaurant. They put on the Bracebridge Dinner which is an old time Christmas Story in December that is worth going to. Staying inside this beautiful resort hotel allows you to enjoy the outdoors during the day and then keeping you safe from the bears at night!

Other lodging in the park is availabe at the Yosemite Lodge and Camp Curry. Curry Village has canvas tents and log cabins to stay in. Yosemite lodge has hotel style loging and individual log cabins to stay in. There are several camp grounds in Yosemite if you would like to bring a tent, RV or trailer.

Reservations can be tough to get during the peak summer season. But Yosemite has much to offer its visitors in the off seasons as well. There are lots of choices of places to stay just outside the park. Choices that include hotels, motels, camping spaces and bed and breakfasts. See has a nice list of each of these places.
