| Description | The Seacoast Science Center is the perfect place to explore, discover, and connect with nature—especially the salty kind. The entire family will be enthralled by the world of marine science, from snails to whales. Once you visit, you will know why so many people come back again and again; rain-or-shine, year-round.
There’s always something to see and do. Get your hands wet and hold a sea star, chain cat shark and other sea creatures. Get up close and personal with a blue lobster, red anemones, graceful seahorses and camouflaging flounders. You’ll be captivated by the Center’s collection of marine mammal skeletons; it ranges from the giant skeleton of Tofu, a humpback whale, to a harbor porpoise: the smallest whale.
Every hour on the hour you can join in a visitor program. Most programs are indoor creature features, but we go outside when the weather allows. Visitor program themes are listed daily on our online calendar.
You’ll find the perfect souvenir of your visit in our Nature Store. We carry a selection of locally made goods, marine-themed gifts, jewelry, toys and books. Proceeds from your purchase help support our ocean education.
Include time to explore the beautiful coastal trails of Odiorne Point State Park. You’ll meander through woodlands, past WWII fortifications, near a pond, by a salt marsh and along the rocky shore from where you can see four light houses. Many of the trails are easy to walk and wheelchair accessible. The Carol Lincoln Memorial Playground, located near the piney picnic grove, is the perfect outdoor play place. Food services are not available, but healthy snacks can be purchased in the Center.
