Brief DescriptionWhitewater Riverboarding Adventure in Asheville and Sylva NC
DescriptionAppalachian Riverboard Company offers riverboarding instruction in North Carolina and we also manufacture riverboards.

One neat thing is that since you are in the water and going to get wet, then it doesn't matter if it's raining. Our trips run rain or shine baring any monumental change in water levels or lightning ( during which we pull over to safety and wait for the storm to pass ). Our minimum age is 9 and we are available on Saturdays from May - Sept. Come get in the water instead of on it so you can feel all of the currents. We are the newest whitewater thrill in the oldest mountains on earth!

Tuckasegee River near Sylva, NC ( about 1 hour from Asheville ). 4 miles. Class II. $65. Saturdays only, June - Aug.

French Broad River near Asheville, NC. Section 6. 2 miles. Class II. $40. Saturdays only, May - Sept.

Also, please note that our listed address is our shop / office address. Do not go here for trips. We will give you directions on where to meet for each river after you have booked a trip.

Is Riverboarding Safe: A: There is inherent risk in whitewater. However with riverboarding, you are prepared to be in the water for the duration of the activity because you have a wetsuit, fins, pfd, pads, and helmet. Compare this with a rafter who was not prepared to fall out of the raft and only has a pfd, helmet, and sandals; and you can see the difference.

What do you provide? A: For gear, we provide riverboard, wetsuit, helmet, knee pads, booties, pfd, and fins. This gear is included in your instruction fee. We also make sure that you are instructed on proper kicking and receive a river talk about techniques, procedures, and signals.

What do I need to bring? A: Please bring sunscreen, a towel, change of clothes, and a water bottle.

How does shuttle / transport work? A: We will meet you at the take out for the river you are doing. Our guide will shuttle you in their vehicle to the put in. At the end of the trip, please shuttle the guide back to the put in to retrieve their car.
