DescriptionIf you love old trains, Raitown is a must! It brings America's glorious railway past to life! The museum includes a working train with historic cars operating from April through October that lets visitors relive the experience of early train travel. Throughout the season, the Park offers a number of special rides; many with entertainment and music for the whole family.

It's also a favorite of Hollywood, having appeared in almost 300 films and television shows dating back to the silent era and including some recent classics like High Noon with Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly and Back to the Future Part III with Michael J Fox. There's even a movie museum celebrating some of the many "appearances" Railtown has made over the years.

For the rail afficianados, the park has one of the few remaining orginal roundhouses in America as well as the original station. Tours are available year around for these facilities and there's a wonderful gift shop in the station. Costumed docents provide information during the April - October season and volunteers who rebuild and maintain all the equipment are there year around to share some of the stories and processes that go into keeping everything running. You can tour the blacksmith shop as well where they build their own tools and parts for the somewhat ancient rolling stock.

The Park offers a number of special rides including music and entertainment for the entire family from April through October. Check the website for details and information.

Many of the cars are available for private parties as well. The caboose is a favorite for children's birthday parties and the beautifully restored early 20th century parlor car is a great place for adults to gather.

The beautiful grounds around the park are also open for picnics making it a great place to spend the morning or afternoon.
