May-October Melbourne Beach has the 2nd largest nesting colony of Loggerhead Turtles and plenty of great surfing. Within walking distance here on Ocean Avenue there are many restaurants including Sand on the Beach Grill just across the street, Djon's Steak and Lobster house a short walk west on Ocean Avenue next to the river with fine dining and live music, and many others along the way from the gourmet market to Burritos.
We are a ten minute drive to Melbourne International Airport and a fifty minute drive to Kennedy Space Center and a one hour drive to Orlando Airport and the Theme Parks. The bed and breakfast has free parking and a garage.Dining & EntertainmentThe Port D' Hiver has a free breakfast. Each morning at Port d'Hiver begins with a hearty breakfast of fresh fruit and homemade muffins, your choice of two special gourmet entrees such as Italian Strata and Praline French Toast with a side of breakfast potatoes, or something simple like eggs cooked to order, classic oatmeal or cold cereal. Guests can join us in the dining room and garden courtyard or give us a call and we deliver with complimentary room service right to your private deck.
Coffee, tea and fresh baked cookies are available 24 hours a day and at 5:00 we have complimentary wine, beer and snacks in the main house.

Handicapped AccessibilityThe Port D' Hiver is handicap accessible.All of our common areas here at Port d'Hiver are wheelchair accessible and the dining room and Main House are ramped. The Creole Room in our South Cabana is a great fully accessible accommodation with roll-in shower and removable seat, custom designed bed and vanity with easily accessible height and special alarms for the visually and hearing impaired. We also have two partially accessible 2nd floor rooms that may be accessed via vertical lift.
