It's northern trailhead begins at Lake Bemidji State Park, boasting the most scenic sections of the 110 mile trail as it winds through the forested State Park, crosses the Mississippi River and skirts the Lake Bemidji shoreline.
Great day trip for experience users, or travel a distance of your choice. Minnesota's new bike route, the Mississippi River Trail, offers the Paul Bunyan Trail as an alternate route between Bemidji and Brainerd. (See www.dot.state.mn.us/bike/mrt.html)
