DescriptionAs the fourth-largest state in the country, Montana is a vast playground that's just waiting to be explored. To make it easy, our majestic state is divided into six different tourism regions, each of them as beautiful as they are unique. They are Glacier Country, in the northwest surrounds Glacier National Park; Gold West Country, in the southwest, is home to a wealth of gold rush and now ghost towns; Russell Country, in north-central portion, is home to the artist and the Rocky Mountain Front; Yellowstone Country, in south-central area, surrounds Yellowstone National Park; Missouri River Country, in the northeast is home to Fort Peck Lake and the Missouri River; and Custer Country, in the southeast, is known for cowboys, Indians and dinosaurs. Glacier Country There are hundreds of reasons to vacation in Glacier Country in addition to the great big gorgeous one known as Glacier National Park, for with the region is named. From the scenic Bitterroot Valley at the south end of the region to the cultural mecca known as Missoula, Glacier Country is full of natural wonders and exciting attractions. Gold West Country Ghost towns are only one way to scare up fun in Gold West Country. Montana's southwest corner boasts riches that can make any vacation memorable, including state parks, blue-ribbon trout streams, museums and art galleries. Russell Country Here you'll find yourself face-to-face with unforgettable adventures in the real West nearly the same West as Lewis and Clark found two centuries ago. Named after the cowboy artist who captured its essence on canvas, Russell Country offers you incredible wonders that demand to be seen as you cast your line into crystal-blue streams, hike scenic trials and meet warm friendly people. Yellowstone Country Yellowstone Country allows you to set free the kid inside of you, with its three entrances to the incredible Yellowstone National Park, the amazing Beartooth Highway, four destination ski resorts, world-class fishing and an unbeatable combination of rugged mountains and large, open spaces. Recess here includes fishing a major river or countless lakes and tributaries as well as hiking, bicycling, or horseback riding. Missouri River Country From an immense sky to an enormous lake, Missouri River Country is all about big. Fort Peck Dam, the world's largest hydraulic earth-filled dam, and its accompanying lake, with 1,500 miles of shoreline, set the stage for prime outdoor recreation. And of course nothing's bigger than dinosaurs, the remains of which you'll find at Missouri River Country's museums. Whatever your idea of big fun is it's here. Custer Country In Custer Country, you can experience stories come to life in the face of a 12-year old dancer at the Crow Fair, in the eyes of a T. rex skeleton or in the pounding hooves at the reenactment of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. This landscape of badlands, flatlands and highlands is also home to great shopping, dining, wildlife viewing and more.
