| Description | A natural limestone cavern with five chambers, one of which is called "The Crystal Chapel", a wedding chapel. The guided walking tour covers about 1/4 mile and will take about 30-45 minutes. On the tour you will see cave formations, stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone and the mysterious Lost River. In the visitors' center is the Gilman Museum with a display of rocks, minerals, gemstones and an antique firearms collection. Also available is gem panning,nature trail and a gift shop with many souvenir items, a rock shop featuring rocks, minerals, gemstones, jewelry, jewelry supplies, lapidary machines and supplies. For the visitors' convenience, a picnic grove is available with a covered bridge, plus free off-street parking. The cavern is 52 degrees year-round, so a jacket and suitable rubber-soled shoes, such as sneakers, are recommended. You are welcome to take pictures, so feel free to bring a camera. |
