DescriptionThe Institute for American Indian Studies (IAIS) museum, education and research center in Washington, CT is dedicated to the preservation of and education about indigenous history and culture. Throughout the year, IAIS offers a variety of programs, lectures, events, and workshops for visitors of all ages.


IAIS is open year-round, five days a week (except major U.S. holidays) offering 4 exhibit galleries, a Children's Discovery Room, and the Four Directions Gift & Book Shop in the museum. A replicated outdoor 16th century Algonkian village, as well as a series of gardens and trails, sits along its 15 acres of woodland landscape.
