DescriptionThe handsomely restored 1809 Hedge House Museum features unusual octagonal rooms and tells the story of Plymouth after the Pilgrim era. The house was built by Mayflower descendant William Hammatt and became the home of merchant Thomas Hedge, who once owned a portion of Plymouth Rock, embedded in his waterfront wharf. Period rooms reveal the richness of 19th-century social and domestic life, with China Trade treasures, American furnishings, paintings, and toys on display. Guided tours last approximately 30 minutes and are available through the summer. The museum is the site of seasonal special events, including a series of free concerts on the sweeping lawn overlooking Plymouth harbor.
