This is an all volunteer non-profit organization which helps individuals research and discover their Gallia County roots. There are 4 available lineage societies: First Families of Gallia County, Civil War Families of Gallia County, Settlers and Builders of Gallia County and Century Families of Gallia County. Help is available to research and even to fill out applications if necessary.
Thousands of wills, estates, marriages, birth and death records are housed in the office as well as family histories and line applications. The website galliagenealogy.org had over 48,000 tombstone listings with at least half linked to photos and around 8,000 obituaries. There is also a large amount of history found from old newspapers, golden wedding anniversaries, Civil War history abstracted for the site.
Available at the office or through mail our books written by the society, various photographs, totes, fleur de lis items related to the county. |
