Description | Dolphin Research Center, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit research and educational facility, is funded by people who visit the facility to see the dolphins and sea lions, swim with dolphins, or take part in another program, as well as by those who join the DRC family when they adopt a dolphin or enroll in one of our other membership plans. The facility offers many programs, including in water programs such as Dolphin Encounters and Dolphin Dips, on the dock programs, and day long Trainer or Researcher for a Day programs.
Dolphin Research Center offers several exciting presentations daily demonstrating the dolphins’ high flying athletics, dolphin education fun facts, dolphin research, new behavior training, medical behaviors, and much more. Each session is uniquely tailored to the dolphins and no program is exactly the same. In a very informal setting, guests are encouraged to ask questions and engage the dolphins by saying hello, waving, and playing with them.
Besides dolphins, the facility also houses sea lions, a flock of birds, and several random critters such as iguanas, chickens, peafowl, and cats. There is a Spray Ground for kids of all ages to play in, as well as fun signage and games. The Dolphin Theatre has formal presentations on a variety of topics including research, keys critters, the story of DRC, and much more. Open seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Narrated sessions and other educational presentations take place about every half an hour.
DRC is pet friendly and encourages guests to bring their furry family members with them to the facility. Just make sure to bring bags, water, and a leash. If doing a program, a member of your party will need to stay with your pet.
The facility is handicap accessible and does provide special assistance at no cost to those who would like to do an interactive program. Call the facility ahead of time to make arrangements.
