1816-1825 Corydon was the first state capitol. The site consists of: First State Capitol building, Governor's Headquarters, Constitution Elm, First State Office bldg, and Porter Law Office. The capitol building, built between 1814 and 1816, is a 40-foot square made of local limestone and consists of three rooms. It was used as the State Capitol from 1816 to 1825, at which time the capitol moved to Indianapolis.
