| Description | The legend lives on in Jackson, Tennessee at the historic home of America's most famous railroad engineer, Casey Jones. Unlike Paul Bunyan and other folk heroes, Casey Jones was a real person who lived in Jackson. He gave his life April 30th, 1900 to save the lives of his passengers on Engine #382. His story was made famous around the world with "The Ballad of Casey Jones". His original 1890's home is now a museum dedicated to his story and the brave men and women of the railroad. Tour the all new expansion that opened in the summer of 2009 including a 8,000 square foot Train Station building with a theatre, new exhibit halls and more. New exhibit opened June 17th, 2010 ~ Railroads & The Civil War in Tennessee. Climb aboard a 130 ton replica of #382 and ring the bell just like Casey. Visit the official new gift shop - The Casey Jones Train Store - complete with model trains and train gifts of all kinds. Museum hours 9 am to 8 pm daily in June, July, August and 9 am to 5 pm daily Central Standard Time during the school year. Located in Casey Jones Village in Jackson, Tennessee.
