Average Wilmington Weather
Rain rain, wont go away. Pack your raingear for a visit to Wilmington as there is seldom a totally dry time---each month averages over three inches of precipitation except February which comes in at right under three inches for an annual average. Wilmington has four distinct seasons. January is the coldest month with average highs just above freezing. Spring and fall are mild but definite sweater weather. The summer months are delightful with highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.

Transportation
Wilmington is located mid-way between New York City and Washington, DC on 1-95. The most convenient airport is in Philadelphia, where youll definitely want to rent a car. Its impossible to get around Wilmington without one.

In-Season Costs
No state sales taxes makes Delaware a Mecca for folks on a shopping splurge --- the Brandywine Valley is chock full of everything from standard retailers, to outlet malls, to antique stores --- so no matter what your budget bewares-youll be seduced by shopping. That said, expect to spend around $100 to $150 for a room in a romantic bed and breakfast, around $40 for the budget chains and around $80-$90 for an upscale chain.

There is no tax on dining in Delaware, so why not have a blow out? The tourist traffic to the area has spawned a series of incredible restaurants catering to every type of taste: you can spend $75 per person for a once-in-lifetime meal or check out a Sunday brunch in the $20 range. If youd rather contribute to the retail economy you should have no trouble finding moderately priced meals in the $7 to $15 range.
