Best Time to Visit Cheyenne Wyoming
While numerous museums and outdoor activities are available year-round, the Cheyenne area really comes alive from late Spring through early Fall. These summer attractions include trolley tours, horse-drawn carriage rides, mock gunfights, hiking, and horseback riding. To truly experience the legendary west, visit during Cheyenne Frontier Days, the world’s largest outdoor rodeo. Held near the end of July each year, Frontier Days offers 10 days of action-packed rodeos, concerts, pancake breakfasts, parades, a Native American village, and much more. Average Cheyenne Weather
The weather in Cheyenne is relatively mild with summer highs averaging in the high 70s/low 80s and lows in the 50s. Winter highs typically are in the 40s with lows in the teens/20s. The climate is quite dry, with less than 15 inches of precipitation a year.

Transportation
Cheyenne is located at the intersection of two interstate highways -- I-25 and I-80 – offering easy driving access from all points of the compass. Cheyenne is served with daily flights to Denver from the Cheyenne Airport. In addition, Denver International Airport is only 100 miles away, offering convenient connections nationally and worldwide.

In-Season Costs
Cheyenne has a wide range of accommodations averaging from $60 to $90 in the summer. Several museums are free, while others have minimal entrance fees ($3-$5). The Cheyenne Street Railway Trolley offers a nice historic tour for $8 ($4 for children). There are many dining choices at a variety of price levels.

Wyoming Tourism - Cheyenne Attractions, Activities and Day Trips
Ft. Laramie National Historic Site is about 100 miles north of Cheyenne. The fort served as a military post from 1849-1890, guarding settler wagons during the nation’s westward expansion. Nearby are the Oregon Trail Ruts where markings from the wagons are still visible in the soft sandstone.

Rocky Mountain National Park is about 90 miles southwest of Cheyenne. The park includes beautiful mountain scenery with valleys at 8,000 ft and peaks of over 12,000 feet.

Laramie is home to the Wyoming Territorial Park and numerous University of Wyoming museums. 45 miles west of Cheyenne.
