Description of this Tiffin Activity: The quaint farming community of Tiffin, Ohio is home to one of the area’s true treasures. Billed as Tiffin’s “Quarter of a Million Dollar Movie Palace,” The Ritz Theatre was built in1928. This Italian Renaissance theatre was designed by Peter M. Hulsken under the direction of local owners, Dan Kerwin and Adam Ritzler (after whom the theatre was named). The vaudeville movie palace saw the end of vaudeville, glowed under the movie boom of the 40s and weathered troubled times in the 70s. After a group of concerned citizens bought the theatre in 1981, the theatre was reborn.
Amazingly, over the years the theatre’s interior had not been changed from its original form, but a major renovation was needed. In November of 1996 with a $4.3 million capital campaign, the renovation was under way. In February of 1998, The Ritz Theatre reopened and today is one of the premier historic theatres in the country.
As a non-profit organization, our mission is to entertain and enrich people by providing an historic center for creative expression, education, social interaction, and community development. We hope to communicate and promote an appreciation of theatre and a greater understanding of our heritage and culture through a diversity of programs designed to benefit the people of Northwest Ohio.

In early 1965 as the "British invasion" dominated the American music scene, Lovin’ Spoonful burst onto the scene and would go on to record and perform some of the songs that would dominate the charts and establish them among the greats of the mid-sixties era. Combining the best of folk music, rock and roll, and a touch of country thrown in: they gave us such hits as "Do You Believe in Magic," "Daydream," "You Didn't Have to be So Nice," "Nashville Cats" and the anthem for a hot July evening, "Summer in the City." March 6, 2000 marked a milestone for the band as they were officially inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

She scored her last hit in 1983, with “All Time High” for the James Bond film. In 2004, she released an anthology of her complete career, entitled Delta Lady — The Rita Coolidge Anthology. The Ritz Theatre’s own resident dance company, trideaDANCE will make their fourth appearance with all new choreography including young dancers from around the area. trideaDANCE is a collaboration of three creative dancers, Marissa Glorioso, Erin Roberts and Tiffin native, Kathy Miller. The trio met in Cleveland while dancing with the Cleveland State Modern Dance Company. They decided to further their commitment to dance by collaborating with The Ritz Theatre and become the theatre’s resident dance company. trideaDANCE will focus on making dance accessible, exciting and fun for their audience and utilize a contemporary dance style that draws from ballet and early modern for its basis.
