Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial Abraham Lincoln's Boyhood Home
Category: Lincoln City National Park near Evansville, Indiana
Description of this Evansville area Attraction: This splendid National Park is the site where Abraham Lincoln grew up. Learn about the lives of Abraham Lincoln and his family, who lived here in a pioneer community from 1816 to 1830.
Visitor Center: The Memorial Visitor Center features two Memorial Halls, a museum with a variety of exhibits and a 15-minute orientation film entitled Forging Greatness - Lincoln in Indiana. Books, postcards and other educational materials are offered for sale in the bookstore.
Walking Tour: Take a peaceful walk up the wooded Lincoln Boyhood Trail to the gravesite of Abraham Lincoln’s mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln, and to the Cabin Site Memorial.
Living History: The Lincoln Living Historical Farm is a working pioneer homestead with a cabin, outbuildings, split rail fences, animals, gardens, and field crops. Rangers in period clothing perform a variety of activities typical of the 1820s. Open year-round. Located on Highway 162 across from Lincoln State Park in Lincoln City.

Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve A catalyst for environmental education

Description of this Evansville Attraction: The Wesselman Nature Society utilizes area woodlands, wetlands, and waterways as educational resources, outdoor classrooms, and learning laboratories for educators and students of Southwest Indiana and beyond. Through these opportunities, visitors and program participants may find a greater understanding and enjoyment of natural and cultural resources both inside and outside the boundaries of protected sites. The Wesselman Nature Society was founded in 1973 for the purpose of protecting the nearly 200 acre tract in Evansville, Indiana now known as Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve. Today this 501c (3) not-for-profit organization is responsible for the preservation, management, and daily operations of Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve, Howell Wetlands, and Canoe Evansville. http://wesselmannaturesociety.org/index2.php
