Kankakee County has four distinct seasons. Average temperatures range from the 80s in summer
to 20 degrees in the winter months with snowfall and wind. The average snowfall in a year is
about 30 inches. Transportation
Just a short drive from Chicago, Kankakee County is about 45 miles south of the city. It is easily
accessible from Interstate 57, Route 17, and Routes 45/52. The River Valley Metro Bus services
the area and links to the University Park electric line of Chicago's Metra Train. The area is also
serviced by Amtrak's Chicago-Carbondale line. The Greater Kankakee Airport has two runways,
4-22 which is 6000'long by 100' wide and 16-34 which is 4400' long by 75' wide. In-Season Costs
Kankakee County offers affordable lodging, dining, and entertainment. The average hotel rate is
