Just a short drive from Chicago, Kankakee County is about 50 miles south of the city. It is easily accessible from Interstate 57, Route 17, and Routes 45/52. The River Valley Metro Bus services the area and links to the University Park electric line of Chicago's Metra Train. The area is also serviced by Amtrak's Chicago-Carbondale line. Camp Shaw-Waw-Nas-See provides the community with an open-youth camping program for children ages 7-16 each summer. Campers can choose from a five or seven day camping experience. The campers participate in many activities such as; archery, arts and crafts, field games, swimming, nature, jewelry making, the challenge course and many more!
Camp Shaw-Waw-Nas-See is open year-round and can accommodate up to 240 people over night and many more for day only or tenting events.
