| * | For three years we stayed at the Tell City Ramada for a week every year. Last year (2008) was the last year I will ever stay here.
We booked over the phone months in advance. We were given the price as 65.00 per night with our AAA discount. We called multiple times between Jan. and June to make sure that our reservations were secure, that the price was correct. We checked in and paid for our four night stay. Five minutes after arriving in our room, we recieved a call from the desk that said, in effect, 'We didn't charge you enough, you need to come down to the desk and give us more money'. Yes, they changed the room rate AFTER we'd already paid. They did this to over half of the group who was staying there for the event.
Secondly, two events were being held in Tell City the same weekend. One event's group was welcomed with smiles and an obvious 'glad to see you' air. The other group was treated as if we were unwelcome. Requests for any services from fresh towels to a phone book were cause for huffing and glares. Let it be said our group is made up of 'normal looking' people between the ages of 25 and 65. The hotel cleared breakfast away in the middle of a person's making their waffle, and when the girl turned around and asked if she could have the butter back for a second, they acted as if she'd asked to set fire to the sofa. Rude behavior toward our group permiated the stay.
Lastly, on the way home, my mother, my daughter, and myself, all began to suffer scalp itch. It was discovered we had all been infested with head lice. The only thing the three of us had in common was my mother's bed. (My daughter and I napped in her room while my husband and son were watching TV in ours.) My husband and son did not get infested, and if they were in our home, they'd have spread further than the three of us.
Complaints made to Ramada Inn Limited resulted in actions from utter apathy to the rude cancellation by managemnet of a person's rooms because a person called corporate to complain about the actions I have listed here.
