Description of this Texas Attraction: Tyler Museum of Art, opened in 1971, is recognized as a premier venue for early and contemporary Texas artists. With some 600 pieces in its permanent collection, and a varied schedule of six to eight traveling exhibitions each year, visitors will always find significant works on display. Current and future exhibitions can be previewed on the TMA website at www.tylermuseum.org. The major traveling exhibition for 2005 is "The Devonshire Inheritance: Five Centuries of Collecting at Chatsworth", the last venue for this amazing collection before it returns to England, and the only Texas museum to host this exhibition. A museum gift shop and lunch cafe are also available on the premises.

Description of this Texas Attraction: This beautiful downtown facility, once the Kerrville Post Office, is now the central point for 15 area art and cultural groups who provide throughout the year a wide variety of exceptional art exhibits. Please check website for what is going on when you want to visit. Such notable examples would include the Southwest Gourd Fine Art Show, the Texas Furniture Makers Show, and the 87th Annual National Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibition. Very nice gift shop with "made in Texas" items. Plan to park your car, enjoy the exhibit, then roam the downtown area. Across the street is a fabulous bookstore, Wolfmueller's, there are shops and galleries and the Sunrise Antique Mall adjacent, and if you visit on Wed-Sat afternoons, the adjacent Hill Country Museum is open from 1:30-4:30. Great places to dine include Pampell's and Francisco's, along with a number of cafes and delis.

Description of this Waco area Attraction: The Gallery has periodic shows with local artists as well as artists from around the country and Mexico. The Gallery is located in the Stairwell of an Antique mall. The space is very interesting as it is in a 1919 building with a freight elevator. This is an accessible location with the owner to operate the elevator. Notices of future openings will be posted from time to time. Children love coming to the malll to see the life size sculptured horse welcoming guests at the entrance to the building. Refreshments are always available and charming hostesses welcome visitors.
