Description of this Ohio Attraction: The museum is the oldest museum in Richland County founded in 1889. The Soldiers Memorial Building that houses the museum is the oldest GAR (Grand Army of the Repulic, Civil War Vetran Building) in Ohio. The museum houses many collections from early Native American, African, Slave, Asian, Military, Natural History and Local History are all well represented in exhibits. A display of nearly 600 planes showing the history of aviation is on display. Artifacts on 2 floors of displays span from Roman to modern times. It is the permanent home for the original "Elektro,ö the Westinghouse robot built for the 1939 New York World's Fair.

Gift shop featuring real Heisey glass and Heisey reproductions in a number of patterns. Eight galleries displaying over 4500 pieces of hand-made Heisey Glass. Galleries are in an 1831 Greek Revival home that has been totally restored and a modern expansion. Heisey Glass was produced in Newark from 1896-1957 in a variety of colors and patterns and is extremely collectable.

Description of this Cincinnati Attraction: About the Freedom Center On August 23, 2004, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center will celebrated its Grand Opening. The Freedom Center teaches the freedom lessons of history to engage and inspire today's freedom heroes. The $110 million learning center houses two theatres, a hall for dialogue, eight interactive experiences and exhibits, and an education and research center. An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, it also serves as the international headquarters for a network of Freedom Stations partners conducting research and programming on freedom studies worldwide.
