Stonyfield Farm Yogurt Works Tour and Visitors' Center Yogurt manufacturing plant and gift shop
Category: Londonderry Tour near Manchester, New Hampshire
Description of this Manchester area Attraction: Yogurt Making and More at Stonyfield Farm!
Stonyfield Farm began in 1983 as a small farm in Wilton, NH with eleven Jersey cows, a great tasting family yogurt recipe, and a dream to do some good in the world. In 1989 they outgrew the farm and moved to their present location in Londonderry, NH. Today, they are the fastest growing yogurt company in America and have won national recognition for their healthy products and environmental initiatives. Each year the company donates 10% of its profits to efforts that restore and protect the earth and educates millions of people about what they can do for their health and the health of the planet.
At their Visitors’ Center and tour you can learn about how yogurt is made, and more about the earth friendly ways they do business. The tour begins with a lively video our silo cinema where you’ll learn about Stonyfield Farm’s early days and some of the things that make the company and its products special. You’ll then be guided down “Memory Lane”, an interesting display of memorabilia and notable milestones in their growth from their humble beginnings. Next, you’ll see the workings of the yogurt manufacturing as you walk down the production hallway and enter the viewing area, which includes a peek inside the quality control lab. You’ll observe how the cups are filled and how cases are packed and sent off to the incubators and chill cells on their way to stores all over the country.
The tour then takes you back to the newly expanded Visitors’ Center where you’ll enjoy free samples of their delicious products, made even more special by having seen how the whole process takes place.
The gift shop in the Visitors’ Center has a variety of items including (surprise!) all sorts of “cow paraphernalia”, as well as many Stonyfield Farm souvenirs. The popular new Stonyfield Farm Cookbook, which as more than 300 delicious recipes, each using yogurt, is also available. They have lots of fun items for kids of all ages. And, you can buy all of their products at discounted prices.
Fun, and educational for all ages and only $1.50 for the tour (children age 4 and under are free), scheduled group tours of 10 or more are only $1.00 per person, it’s easy to get to from routes I93 and I293
