Lake of the Woods Tourism Tourist Information Center

Description of this Minnesota Visitor Information entry: The Lake of the Woods Tourist Information Center is located on the west edge of Baudette, Minnesota, the "Walleye Capital of the World"! Lake of the Woods is known throughout the nation as one of the best walleye fisheries in the world! In addition to fabulous multi-species fishing, the area hosts thousands of acres of public land for wildlife viewing! Black bear, grey wolves, whitetail deer, river otter and beaver are all routinely sighted. Birding opportunities abound in the area, and the Lake of the Woods is home to various colonial nest sites, including pelican, common terns, black terns and double crested cormorants. The rare Piping Plover nests in the Wildlife Sanctuary located on Pine Island.
Our center hosts an array of area brochures along with our comprehensive, Getaway Guide. The Lake of the Woods Tourist Information Center is open year around, Monday through Friday, 9:00-4:30 in the winter and seven days a week in the summer. Stop in and see us, we would love to meet you!

Stately Summit Avenue showcases the country's largest stretch of Victorian homes, reaching from the Cathedral of Saint Paul near downtown to the Mississippi River Boulevard five miles west. The city's wealth of architectural masterpieces ranging from
the Cass Gilbert designed State Capitol to the castle-like Landmark Center to the impressive James J Hill mansion make walking tours a must in this historic rivertown. One block west of Summit Avenue lays Grand Avenue, an eclectic collection of one-of-a-kind boutique and specialty shops and ethnic restaurants set in a cozy turn-of-the-century neighborhood.
