Built in 1882, the Tibbits Opera House is among the oldest theatres in Michigan. Rich in history and ambiance, the theatre even today offers theatre-goers nearly perfect acoustics, an intimate 499-seat setting, and a fine array of performances throughout the year.
Tibbits has developed an outstanding reputation for its Summer Theatre, which brings in thousands of people each year for professional productions by its resident summer stock company. The summer of 2006 will again offer four shows over eight weeks for reasonable prices, including "Oliver," "Arsenic & Old Lace," "Grease," and "You Never Know."

YDT presents Five Dancing Princesses

Description of this Ann Arbor area Activity: The Youth Dance Theatre of Michigan will present the full-length ballet, Five Dancing Princesses, choreographed by artistic director Wendi DuBois. It is set to the beautiful music of Wolfgang Mozart, and danced by youth ages 8-18 years. The enchanting story is based on the Grimm fairy tale, Twelve Dancing Princesses. The king states a decree that any man who can discover the secret behind his five daughter's morning sleepiness and worn out shoes can choose one of the princesses for a bride. With mystery, amusement and adventure the story unfolds while the cast of princessess and lords, a dark fairy and duke, a king and queen, peasants, fairies, flowers, mists and royalty entertain the audience of all ages. Childrens "Tea" prior to each matinee, extra fee will include visit from cast, delicious snacks and photo opportunities.
