Cobb County Convention & Visitors Bureau Cobb County is located 10 miles NW of downtown Atlanta.
Category: Cobb Visitor Bureau near Cobb County, Georgia
Description of this Cobb County area Visitor Information entry: On the outskirts of Atlanta sits a place where the best of the big city is accessible, affordable and attainable. From history to recreation, dining to accommodations, Cobb County is home to the Very Best of Atlanta!
Cobb County was born out of legislation splitting up Cherokee lands in northwest Georgia. The County was named for Thomas Willis Cobb, who served as a state senator. His wife, Mary, was the inspiration behind his naming one of Cobb’s most enjoyable areas, Marietta.
Situated a mere 10 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta, Cobb County offers proximity to all that Atlanta has to offer. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is only 30 minutes away, bringing Cobb in touch with the world. Interstates 75, 285 and 20 run through the county, and the original Dixie Highway, U.S. 41, makes getting around Cobb easy. Interstate 85 lies only 13 miles to the east.
Each of the six incorporated cities within the county—Marietta, Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Powder Springs and Smyrna—has something unique to offer, as do the communities of Vinings and Mableton. No other metro county has mixed progress with a reverence for preserving the historical as Cobb has done.
Rising as a major center for commerce, Cobb County is home to notable national and international companies, including Home Depot, the Weather Channel, WellStar Health Systems, and Lockeed Martin Corporation.
Whether your group’s pleasure is roaring along a roller coaster ride, taking in an enchanted Southern evening of fine dining and live theater, enjoying the 2,000 acres of meadows, mountain and tree-lined paths, or simply browsing through one of our many quaint antique shops, there is something for everyone in Cobb!
