Archeological research indicates that the area surrounding the springs has been inhabited for some 12,000 years. Spring Lake is home to endangered and threatened species such as the Texas blind salamander. Aquarena Center features Glass Bottom Boat tours, where you can view indigenous wildlife as well as some of the 1,000 bubbling springs. Learn more about the unique freshwater ecosystem and visit the Archaeology Exhibit, Wetlands Floating Boardwalk or the Texas Rivers Center exhibit hall. In the Endangered Species Exhibit you can view some of the fish and reptiles that make this part of the river a federally declared critical habitat

Our collection will trace the development of the automobile and its effect on the social and economic climate of much of the world between 1929 and 1959. The museum will contain 65 classic cars, which will be rotated periodically. Along with these outstanding automobiles, Dick's Classic Garage will also have a gift shop and fully equipped conference center available for special events

Lyndon B. Johnson spent his college years in San Marcos while he attended what is now Texas State University-San Marcos (1927-1930).á Here, he honed his political skills and developed a strong commitment to education and civil rights. Approximately 150 items are on display, including early photographs, local news clippings, a book collection and campaign and presidential memorabilia. Hours: Thursday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 p.m. to 5 p.m. & Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Enlarge	Lions Club Tube Rental Lions Club Tube Rental in San Marcos, TX Category: San Marcos Scenic near Austin, Texas Description of this Austin area Attraction: The Tube Rental and River Taxi are fund raising projects of the San Marcos Lions Club. The Tube Rental is located at City Park and next to the Texas National Guard Armory. Proceeds from this and other projects allow the Lions Clubs to support many charities and educational opportunities for students. Due to parking restrictions at the Rio Vista Dam, all tube rentals must include a taxi ride. Float trip takes about 1 hour. Please bring a photo ID (School ID or Drivers License) to rent tubes. $7.00/single tube and $9.00/single tube with bottom ($15.00 deposit per tube required).
