River Legacy Living Science Center and River Legacy Parks Nature Center and Park
Category: Arlington Nature in Texas
Description of this Arlington Attraction: The 12,000-square-foot River Legacy Living Science Center houses a variety of hands-on interactive exhibits, terrariums and aquariums, and a gift shop, as well as a variety of educational programs for children ages 3 to 8th grade. The center also serves as the gateway to River Legacy Parks, a 1,300-acre oasis along the Trinity River that includes 8 miles of paved hiking and biking trails, a 3-mile mountain bike trail, numerous nature paths, river overlooks, playground, picnic areas and pavilions. Plans are underway to add canoe launches and a wetland-area boardwalk in 2008.
The Science Center and the park are funded by a unique public/private partnership between the city of Arlington and the nonprofit River Legacy Foundation.
