Description of this Pigeon Forge area Attraction: Join us at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center to celebrate the cultural heritage of East Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains region. Our exhibitions, educational programs, demonstrations and activities will guide you on a textured, historic journey through the diverse cultures of Townsend and the surrounding area. Artifacts representing 5,000 years of native American life are on display as well as exhibits from the Pioneer & Mountain Culture daily life, family and community, medicine, industry, recreation and education. Eight historic buildings are on site, along with a 500-seat amphitheter and 100-seat auditorium.
