Description of this Knoxville Event: Knoxville Opera presents Rossini’s masterpiece “The Barber of Seville” at the historic Tennessee Theater during Knoxville’s Rossini Festival!
“Figaro, Figaro, Figaro,” the most famous quote in all of opera, highlight’s Rossini’s glittering romp about the escapades of Seville’s favorite barber, who arranges for Count Almaviva to conquer the beautiful Rosina. The sparkling score and comedy has inspired countless interpreters from Bugs Bunny and Woody Woodpecker to Robin Williams in “Mrs. Doubtfire!”
Performances are Friday, April 23, 2010 at 8:00PM and Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 2:30PM (sung in Italian with projected English translations). Maestro Salesky’s onstage opera preview begins 45 minutes prior to each performance. Tickets start at just $15 and group discounts & student/child pricing is available.

Description of this Knoxville Event: The innocent Lucia falls in love with her family’s enemy, Edgardo. After Lucia’s brother forces her into an arranged marriage to save them from financial ruin, the distraught girl murders her husband on their wedding night. Famous musical highlights include the glorious Sextet and opera’s greatest Mad Scene, which has made sopranos into legends.
