Description of this Pennsylvania Activity: Welcome to Dayze Gone Bye Carriage Rides owned and operated by Nick, Tara and Amanda Richtscheit. Our horse drawn carriages feature a unique look into life in days gone by. Those were days when life was simpler and moved at a much slower pace. We now refer to them as “The Good Old Days”.
Big Valley Amish Country Tours
Our tours are available by spring wagon which seats up to 6 or take the covered wagon which seats 10 to 12 for larger groups. Sit back and enjoy a relaxing one hour tour which begins at our 41 Water Street residence in Allensville, PA. During your tour we'll share with you the Amish cultures of "Big Valley". Big Valley is the only area in the world that has 3 different types of Amish buggies in one valley (black, white & yellow tops).
Field Trips
Field trips are welcome. Call for details and reservations. We specialize in little house on the prairie days with our covered wagon.
Pony Rides

Here at Dayze Gone Bye Carriage Rides you'll be greeted by Al our Alpaca, Baby our goat, Boyfriend our miniature horse, Doc our pony, Kid our paint pony, Jack our miniature donkey, Dan & Sam our team of haflinger horses, and Lynda our beautiful, big, black Percheron horse. Liberty Mountain Resort Summer - Weddings & Conferences; Winter - Ski, Board, Tube

Description of this Pennsylvania Activity: Located on 275 beautiful acres, the resort offers over 100 acres of skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing trails. April thru November the resort offers over 23,000 square feet of multifunctional meeting space. Meeting rooms range from the well-appointed Strata Boardroom to the spacious Alpine room featuring a stone fireplace and mountain-side views. The main lodge also features a three-tiered deck for outdoor gatherings. The backside of the mountain features the newly built Boulder Ridge log style lodge which in the summer is ideal and for both weddings and corporate retreats and is home to the Boulder Ridge Challenge Course. In the winter, Boulder Ridges offers fun for the whole family with 14 lanes for snow tubing. The onsite Liberty Mountain Hotel is open year around and offers 41 comfortable guest rooms, including one luxury suite.
Amenities
Year round, the Liberty Mountain Hotel offers King and Double guestrooms which include cable TV, private voicemail, and computer ports. Our luxury suite features a living area, kitchenette and whirlpool tub. Free wireless internet service is available in every hotel room, and in most public areas throughout the base lodge. Guests enjoy a continental breakfast with their stay. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, we offer a large outdoor swimming pool. Other onsite activities for our hotel guests include hiking, horseshoes (by request), and adjacent are exercise facilities, billiards and golf. In the winter months we feature 16 trails and 6 chairlifts for skiing and snowboarding and 14 lanes for snow tubing at Boulder Ridge Snow Tubing. Additional winter amenities include: Ski and Snowboard Schools, Children's Learning Center, Playcare, three Terrain Parks, Groups Rates and Night Club Cards, McKee's Tavern, Special Events, Liberty Mountain Sports Shop, Starbucks Coffee (2 locations), Food Court, Sneaky's Pizza Parlor, Advantage Cards and Season Passes and the Boulder Ridge Challenge Course.
Area Attractions
Activities are plentiful in the region. The Carroll Valley Resort championship golf course is located next door, as well as several additional courses within a few miles drive. For hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, the Appalachian Trail and Catoctin Mountain State Park are nearby. The Gettysburg area is rich in history, and offers tours, museums and sightseeing. Nearby shopping options are diverse and include a multitude of antique shops, the Gettysburg Outlet Center, and Boyd’s Bear Country.

Description of this Pennsylvania Attraction: The Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a 2,174-mile footpath along the ridgecrests and across the major valleys of the Appalachian Mountains from Katahdin in Maine to Springer Mountain in northern Georgia. The trail traverses Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia. The Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is used by day, weekend and other short-term hikers, section-hikers and thru-hikers. Thru-hikers hike the entire length of the Trail in one season.
The A.T. began as a vision of forester Benton MacKaye and was developed by volunteers and opened as a continuous trail in 1937. It was designated as the first National Scenic Trail by the National Trails System Act of 1968. The Trail is currently protected along more than 99 percent of its course by federal or state ownership of the land or by rights-of-way. Today Pine Creek winds its way one thousand feet below the Canyon's rim, fed by streams tumbling form the moutains on either side. 300,000 acres of mostly state-owned land surround the Canyon. At its deepest point, the Canyon is 1450 deep and nearly one mile wide. 42- mile Rail Trail in basin of Canyon is a multi-use trail for hiking, bicycling, and cross country skiing. Many scenic vistas offer spectular views. Bordered by Leonard Harrison State Park and Colton Point State Park, both of which offer spectacular scenic overlooks. Recreational opportunities include hiking, biking, camping, picnicking, snowmobiling, rafting and canoeing. Beautiful historic Wellsboro is located just 10 miles away and offers many fine restaurants and accommodations.
