Description of this Altoona area Activity: In 1897, the Gardner family turned their passion for candy making into a retail enterprise that grew to become a chain of 15 retail stores located throughout Pennsylvania. More than 100 years later, Gardners continues the tradition of using original recipes and processes to make chocolates with only the freshest and finest ingredients. Over the years, Gardners has become famous for its Original Peanut Butter Meltaways, but also produces more than 100 varieties of confections including old-time favorites such as freshly roasted nuts, assorted meltaways, fresh fruit creams, toasted coconut and caramels, all nestled beneath layers of rich milk, dark or white chocolate. Each piece is always handled with delicate care from the first stir to the final packaging.
Visit Gardners Candies and let our Chocolate Fantasyland take you back to your childhood. Our reputation for friendly old-fashioned service will make you feel at home as your candies are packed to order. Gardners also creates candy-filled trays, baskets and collector tins decorated and wrapped for elegant presentation.
