Average Allentown Weather Allentown experiences all four seasons giving residents and visitors alike the opportunity to be in the outdoors year round with a different experience each time. During winter the city sees snow which settles beautifully on South Mountain making for a picturesque backdrop. Winter temperatures typically hover around the 20s and 30s but wind chills can make them dip to near zero. Spring brings a warm up and makes the city bloom with average temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Lovers of fine art will want to tour the Allentown Art Museum which offers world-class collections and special exhibitions from famous artists. Shoppers will enjoy the variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods and meats at the Allentown Farmers Market.
Sports and outdoor enthusiasts will feel at home in the city’s expansive park system. They can choose to picnic creek-side, enjoy a leisurely walk or participate in a game of volleyball, basketball or tennis. Cyclists can take the Jordan Creek Park and Lehigh Parkway rides to see the city on two wheels. A side trip to Bogert’s Covered Bridge makes for a scenic sojourn. Golf pros can practice their swing at the Allentown Golf Club, while lovers of the arts can take in one of the performances by the Lehigh Valley Chamber Orchestra, the Allentown Symphony Association or the Civic Theatre.
