Category:     Caddo Museum in Oklahoma

Description of this Oklahoma Attraction: Caddo’s museum was the brainchild of Caddo’s Bicentennial Committee (1976). It opened in 1978 and since then it has been entertaining and enlightening visitors from across the country and around the globe. Some are just “passing through” and see the sign on the highway. Others are on a quest to find some bit of information about a mysterious ancestor or lost relative. The charming ladies who volunteer at the museum are always eager to chat with you about Caddo’s history or help you locate family ties. The current curator is Jerri Hadley. Call 580-367-2787 for more information. FREE Tues.-Fri. 10am-3pm, Sat 1pm-3pm & by appt 110 Buffalo (SH-22) 580-367-2787

Shattuck Windmill Park
vintage windmills, half dugout soddy, homestead house

Category:     Shattuck Museum in Oklahoma

Description of this Oklahoma Attraction: As of July, 2004, 45 windmills stand in the park, with no two alike. A half-dugout soddy has been reconstructed at the park to demonstrate how many early settlers lived. It is furnished with a stove, table and bed. In 1997, the one and a half story homestead house was moved to the park. This restored home, typifies the frame structure that an early family would have built once they had moved from their "soddy". It is fully furnished and contains a small corner for windmill memorabilia. Coming in spring 2005, look for a mercantile to be added which will peddle windmill park wares.
