In early 1965 as the "British invasion" dominated the American music scene, Lovin’ Spoonful burst onto the scene and would go on to record and perform some of the songs that would dominate the charts and establish them among the greats of the mid-sixties era. Combining the best of folk music, rock and roll, and a touch of country thrown in: they gave us such hits as "Do You Believe in Magic," "Daydream," "You Didn't Have to be So Nice," "Nashville Cats" and the anthem for a hot July evening, "Summer in the City." March 6, 2000 marked a milestone for the band as they were officially inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Most music fans have a favorite song recorded by two-time GRAMMY® award-winner Rita Coolidge - "Fever," "We're All Alone," "One Fine Day," "(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher & Higher," "The Way You Do The Things You Do," "Superstar," and so many other memorable tracks that have topped the charts from the 1970's onward. She scored her last hit in 1983, with “All Time High” for the James Bond film. In 2004, she released an anthology of her complete career, entitled Delta Lady — The Rita Coolidge Anthology. Rita recently released a jazz CD entitled, And So Is Love.

The Ritz Theatre’s own resident dance company, trideaDANCE will make their fourth appearance with all new choreography including young dancers from around the area. trideaDANCE is a collaboration of three creative dancers, Marissa Glorioso, Erin Roberts and Tiffin native, Kathy Miller. The trio met in Cleveland while dancing with the Cleveland State Modern Dance Company. They decided to further their commitment to dance by collaborating with The Ritz Theatre and become the theatre’s resident dance company. trideaDANCE will focus on making dance accessible, exciting and fun for their audience and utilize a contemporary dance style that draws from ballet and early modern for its basis.

The Ritz Teen Thespian Guild, a group of young performers from area high schools, will present a multi-media version of this definitive dystopian story. Orwell powerfully depicts the horrors of man’s fate in a society where Big Brother is always watching; the manipulation of language is used to control the minds of individuals and waves of misinformation are fed into the “telescreens” present in every home and workplace. Twenty-five years past the title date, the question becomes how close is our contemporary world to the one Orwell imagined? This production promises to be an intense and effective experience made more memorable by the appearance of local teens on The Ritz Mainstage.

Brandy and Whitney Houston’s 1997 version of Enchanted is recreated here to demonstrate a miraculous and musical kingdom of happily-ever-after to an audience of all ages.
