Buffalo NY Tourism and Sightseeing

Buffalo New York Tourism At a Glance

Best Time to Visit Buffalo New York

Beautiful Buffalo, NY has stunning views all four seasons of the year. People looking to visit should typically come between the months of May and December. In the summer months, one can enjoy an abundant array of activities. A new $49 million public waterfront on the Erie Canal provides opportunities to bike, boat, shop, eat, and learn about the city’s rich history. The 2007 completion of the Erie Canal Harbor Project will welcome visitors year-round to a new public space for recreation, events and concerts, as well as an expanded waterfront serving as a prime destination for cruise ships, large vessels and recreational boats. Also, Buffalo is host to numerous festivals ranging from the Italian Festival to the nationally recognized Wing Festival.

The Fall and Winter months have just as much to offer. Mid September is the launch of theatre season. Historical Shea’s Performing Arts Center, along with 13 other theatres, wow theater-goers with Broadway shows to intimate productions. The changing season launches a vibrant display of colors, from all the trees that populate our historic Forest Lawn Cemetary to the freshly snow coated sidewalks of our Erie Canal Harbor. Let’s not forget the hundreds of shops and stores located all around Buffalo to do your Holiday Shopping.

On average, the summer months range from the low 70s to mid to upper 80s, excellent weather for swimming, golfing etc. The winter months get a bit chilly with averages anywhere from the mid teens to upper 20s. Fall months tend to average a wide scale range; anywhere from the mid 70s in September to the mid 40s in November. Spring is quite similar to fall, with lower temperatures in March (average mid 40s) to higher temperatures in May (average mid 60s). Ski lovers take note, the average snowfall per year in Buffalo is 93 inches. With the numerous ski slopes and resorts located a close drive away, Buffalo is a great winter destination.
