Dunn County Historical Museum Taking a trip back in time: 100-plus years of history!
Category: Dunn Center Museum in North Dakota
Description of this North Dakota Attraction: We showcase authentic memorabilia that depicts the heritage of the settlers to our badlands and prairie area of North Dakota--Dunn County.
We have two 5,000-square-foot buildings that have many displays telling about the one-room schoolhouses, old-time barbershop, post office, bank, church, Knife River flint, antique farm machinery, and cowboy artifacts dating back to the late 1800s. We feature area family history in our county history books, as well as one of the best collections of Native American and Cowboy photography from western North Dakota.
If you like Cowboy Poetry, ask for Chris the Curator. He'll be glad to throw down a rhyme or two by classic cowboy poets such as Badger Clark, S. Omar Barker, Wallace McCrae, and Waddie Mitchell.
A peaceful afternoon can be spent viewing our buildings, including an old-fashioned log cabin, and weather-beaten homesteader shack. We have a nice walking path around our grounds where you can search for your own Knife River flint. Let the sounds of the Meadowlark and the aroma of sage and pine soothe your weary, traveler's soul.
