It is six stories tall, built of native stone. Has a 20 foot diameter water wheel, original mill stones, roller mills, dressers, and scales. Located in a picturesque valley it is adjacent to Lake Labelle. Offers trout fishing, picnicing, hiking, birdwatching, or lunch/diner at nearby inn.

The encircling balcony gallery houses the "County Time-line" exhibit, which begins with the area's unique geologic formation and a superb collection of Native Americana. The exhibit surprises visitors with the unexpected: Winona's rowdy past, a brief history of the sewer system, and the Cold War plans to be used during nuclear war are among the less typical topics examined. Our hands-on children's exhibit, "Walking Through Time" received an award from the American Association for State and Local History. The Society also has one of the finest local archives in the state and a Museum Shop overflowing with traditional handicrafts, local products, souvenirs, and books.

We purchased a 1902 school building with a 1936 addition put on with WPA workers. We have nine classrooms with unique displays. The halls also lend themselves to more displays and picture galleries. Our Education committee is equipped to handle school & other field trips. A 1940's two week school will be put on this summer.
