Enjoy a stroll through Gallier's elegant Victorian home, authentically restored to reflect the taste and lifestyle of a successful urban designer in 19th-century New Orleans. Gallier House is an outstanding example of accurate and comprehensive historic restoration of one of New Orleans' loveliest and time-honored landmarks. As part of the annual programming at the Gallier House: during the summer months the house dons her summer dress; every Wednesday, from October through May living history demonstrations are presented, exploring such diverse topics as 19th-century housekeeping to woodworking; and the halls are decked as well as everything else during the holiday season.

Description of this New Orleans Attraction: The Hermann-Grima Historic House is a restored 1830s Federal-style mansion located in the heart of the historic French Quarter.The house has been painstakingly restored with period antiques and "family" pieces. Museum visitors learn about the people that lived on the property including enslaved individuals and free people of color. They will also visit a unique courtyard garden, a restored slave quarter, a functional open-hearth kitchen and the only intact private stable left in the French Quarter. As part of the annual programming at the Hermann-Grima House: every Thursday, from October through May period cooking demonstrations are given in the 1830s kitchen; late October through All Saints Day the house goes into "mourning"; and the halls are decked as well as everything else during the holiday season.

Description of this New Orleans Attraction: Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve was established to preserve signifcant examples of the rich natural and cultural resources of Louisiana's Mississippi Delta region. The park seeks to illustrate the influence of environment and history on the development of a unique regional culture. The park consists of six physically separate sites and a park headquarters located in southeastern Louisiana. The sites in Lafayette, Thibodaux, and Eunice interpret the Acadian culture of the area. The Barataria Preserve (in Marrero) interprets the natural and cultural history of the uplands, swamps, and marshlands of the region. Six miles southeast of New Orleans is the Chalmette Battlefield and National Cemetery, site of the 1815 Battle of New Orleans and the final resting place for soldiers from the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, and Vietnam. At 419 Decatur Street in the historic French Quarter is the park's visitor center for New Orleans. This center interprets the history of New Orleans and the diverse cultures of Louisiana's Mississippi Delta region. The Park Headquarters is located in New Orleans.
