Average Kauai Weather
Expect year-round tropical breezes and weather that stays in the 80s most of the time. During February and January, the average high dips into the upper 70s. Its about as perfect a climate as youll find anywhere on the planet.

Transportation
Lihue Airport is served by Aloha, Hawaiian, Ryan Air and United Airlines. The Marriott and the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort offer free shuttles to their properties. Taxis are available curbside right outside of baggage claim. You absolutely must have a car to get around Kauai. You may choose to only rent for a few days of your stay and spend other days on-site at your hotel or taking day trip group tours. All the major car rental companies have a presence on Kauai. To pick up your car youll go to the Rent-A-Car booths across the street from the terminal.

In-Season Costs
Kauai doesnt have a high season and low season as such. Prices remain fairly static year round -- with the exception of a dip during late summer tropical storm season and a peak around Christmas and June. Expect to pay at least $300 nightly for a room in the most expensive exclusive resorts and consider yourself lucky if you book at that price. Moderately priced rooms are available in the $150 range. Kauai is best visited after some judicious shopping for rates; it helps to be flexible in choosing your dates when you are seeking a room bargain. Once you are on the island youll find meals relatively inexpensive and most of the sights are low cost or free.

Hawaii Tourism - Kauai Attractions, Activities and Day Trips
Day trips on Kauai are best undertaken in a rental car. The island is remarkably diverse for such a small slice of paradise, and youll want to spend some time off the beach exploring the environs. The Waialua area of the Coconut Coast has many heiaus (sacred sites), petroglyphs, and other unique points of Hawaiian culture. On the West Side of the island, youll find among other historic treasures the sole remaining Russian Fort in the islands. Lihue is Kauai's county seat and the home of the Kauai Museum, which has extensive exhibits of Hawaiiana along with memorabilia from the sugar plantation era. On the South Shore you can explore the National Tropical Botanical Garden located in Lawai Valley.
