The City of St. Pete Beach is a barrier island community located just off the Pinellas County mainland with a permanent population of about 10,032 (latest estimate from the University of Florida) The city is also a popular winter residence for many people living in colder parts of the United States, Canada and Europe.
While the sheer beauty and abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities have attracted tourists to the area for decades in all seasons, it is becoming a popular getaway for couples and families to relax and de-stress. The city was incorporated in 1957 with the consolidation of the Towns of Pass-a-Grille, Don CeSar, Belle Vista, St. Petersburg Beach and unincorporated Pinellas County to become the City of St. Petersburg Beach. In 1994, the citizens voted to shorten the name to St. Pete Beach to lessen the confusion with the City of St. Petersburg, located on the mainland to the east.
St. Pete Beach is a significant tourist destination, having over 3,000 transient accommodation units, including major hotel and motel operations as well as many smaller, more intimate lodging facilities such as furnished condos.

St Pete Beach has restaurants in all price ranges from Fine Dining to beach bars complete with Happy Hours. Expect to pay approximately $20 per person for dinner with wine in a moderately priced restaurant. Many major restaurant chains and fast food have area outlets. The warmest month of the year is July with an average maximum temperature of 90.20 degrees Fahrenheit, while the coldest month of the year is January with an average minimum temperature of 54.00 degrees Fahrenheit.
Temperature variations between night and day tend to be fairly limited during summer with a difference that can reach 13 degrees Fahrenheit, and fairly limited during winter with an average difference of 15 degrees Fahrenheit.
The annual average precipitation at St. Pete Beach is 49.58 Inches. Summer months tend to be wetter than winter months. The wettest month of the year is August with an average rainfall of 8.26 Inches.
TransportationThe area is perhaps the most easily accessible island beach resort. Many restaurants and beach bars are within walking distance. You may rent a car at TPA airport; the drive to the beach is approximately than 30 minutes. There are also van and limo services that will drive you from the airport to your destination.
Many taxi companies service the island. Bats Taxi (727-367-3702), headquartered in St. Pete Beach is often used by locals and visitors. The city highly recommends usage of the Trolley if you wish to move along the barrier islands. The Suncoast Beach Trolley serves and connects all of the cities along the Tampa Bay Beaches with connecting service available inland to St. Petersburg and Clearwater. Look for special trolley bus stop signs along Gulf Blvd. In addition to the services along Gulf Blvd, connector routes run between the coast and downtown St. Petersburg.

Exact change is required for each passenger. Driver Cannot Make Change. Fare is $1.25 per ride or you can purchase a GO Card which gives you unlimited trips on any PSTA vehicle.

Reduced Fare passes are also available for Seniors 65 or older and Disabled Passengers.
Hours of Operation

Tarpon springs - Known as the “sponge capital of the world,” Tarpon Springs, first settled in 1882, is named for the tarpon, a fish found in abundance off the coast. Many Greek immigrants came here after 1905 to continue their traditional trade of sponge diving.
Tropicana Field - Tropicana Field, the only domed sports stadium in Florida, is home to Major League Baseball's Tampa Devil Rays. Tropicana features include a high-tech, clear membrane, supported by a bicycle-wheel shaped structural system. Home plate end is higher than the center field's end, allowing more rows of upper deck seats.
