St Augustine Florida Tourism At a Glance

Best Time to Visit St Augustine Florida

St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches is a year-round Florida destination that is the ideal vacation spot for outdoor recreation, art, history and family fun. St. Augustine is the oldest city in the United States and features several authentic attractions and several cultural and heritage events take place in the spring summer months. Educational events, including celebrations honoring historic dates and people, are presented throughout the year. The annual Nights of Lights holiday celebration held mid-November through January features millions of tiny white lights that outline the bay front and buildings of historic downtown St. Augustine, transforming the old city into a festive night-time holiday wonderland.

Ponte Vedra Beach is one of the nation’s premier locations for golf and tennis, with courses that include THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, which hosts THE PLAYERS Championship in May, and the MPS Women’s Group Tennis Championships to private and semi-private courses and courts. With our temperate climate, golf and tennis are enjoyed year-round. This coastal region stretches from Ponte Vedra, in the north, to Marineland, at the southern extremity of St. Augustine, where the natural beauty remains unspoiled and serves as a year-round magnet for visitors who enjoy sunshine, recreation and the sea. With eight stops on the Great Florida Birding Trail, the area is a bird watcher’s paradise from March to June. Giant sea turtles create their nests on the beaches during the warm summer nights and in winter, the rare Northern Right, give birth just off our shores. St. Augustine hosts the annual Birding & FotoFest in April, when participants get the opportunity to participate in birding and photography workshops and special tours.
