| Description | For over 15 years, Swamp Gravy has produced plays steeped in Southern tradition but full of universal appeal – stories about life and death, about family and community. Started in 1991, the play was conceived as a way to preserve the heritage of Colquitt, Georgia, and record stories about the community. All of Swamp Gravy’s plays are based on real-life stories from members of the community, and each year a new script and original music are written and performed by a local volunteer cast. Named the “Official Folk Life Play of Georgia” by the General Assembly, Swamp Gravy has taken its small-town humor all the way to Atlanta’s 1996 Olympic Games and Washington’s Kennedy Center. |
