Average Wilmington Weather

Wilmington has four distinct seasons. January is the coldest month with average highs just above freezing. Spring and fall are mild but definite sweater weather. Transportation
Wilmington is located mid-way between New York City and Washington, DC on 1-95. The most convenient airport is in Philadelphia, where youll definitely want to rent a car. Its impossible to get around Wilmington without one.

There is no tax on dining in Delaware, so why not have a blow out? The tourist traffic to the area has spawned a series of incredible restaurants catering to every type of taste: you can spend $75 per person for a once-in-lifetime meal or check out a Sunday brunch in the $20 range. If youd rather contribute to the retail economy you should have no trouble finding moderately priced meals in the $7 to $15 range.

The best day trip in Delaware will convince you that youve spent the day in Europe. Winterthur Estate on Route 52 is six miles northwest of Wilmington. Winterthur is a country estate. The museum offers a collection of American antiques. The 60-acre garden and surrounding landscape of woodlands, waterways, and rolling meadows are a great place to walk around. Tours of the mansion, the museum and the garden are available. Its best to contact Winterhur in advance for tour tickets, to learn about events, or make advance reservations call 1-800-448-3883.
