Just north of Dalton in Tunnel Hill is the historic 1850 Western & Atlantic Railroad Tunnel. Built completely by hand and 1,477 feet long the tunnel was the first railroad tunnel in the south. Dalton is also home to dozens of bicycle trails for both road and mountain biking. Hiking trails such as the Pinhoti and Disney are just a mile or so form most of Dalton's hotels. Dalton is located just south of Chattanooga, Tennessee and 1 hour north of Metro Atlanta along I-75 at Exits 333 & 336.
