Description of this Connecticut Attraction: Our state hero, Nathan Hale, taught in this school after graduating from Yale College in New Haven. He was here for one winter session from 1773 until 1774, when he took a new teaching position in New London, where he stayed until the Revolutionary War started. Maintained by the Connecticut Sons of the American Revolution.

Description of this Connecticut Attraction: Bushnell Park Carousel Jewell St. at the Memorial Arch. Intricately hand-carved carousel created by Solomon Stein and Harry Goldstein in 1914 with 48 horses, 2 lovers' chariots, a myriad of beautiful stained glass windows depicting the changing seasons, mirrors reflecting 800 twinkling light bulbs, and a finely tuned Wurlitzer band organ. Seasonal: Open May through October; Tues.-Sun., 11am-5pm; September and October; Thurs.-Sun., 11:00 am-5pm; open for First Night Hartford, December 31st, 2:00 pm-12:00 am. Closed Mon. Available for private rentals, birthday parties and Spin & Learn educational programs. $1.00 per ride. 860-585-5411 www.thecarouselmuseum.org
