In the evenings, you’ll often need a sweater or light jacket after the sun goes down. Spring comes with a little more rain than the other seasons, but you’re richly rewarded with abundant wildflowers on your hikes and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.

Average Colorado Springs Weather

Summer highs average in the low 80s and winter highs average in the low 40s. Snow mainly stays in the mountains, but when we do get snow, it melts quickly. It’s not uncommon for people to be able to wear shorts and T-shirts even in the middle of winter. Colorado Springs weather can change quickly, so dress in layers and bring your sunscreen, hat and water bottle.

Transportation

Colorado Springs is just 70 miles south of Denver on Interstate I-25. The area is accessible from the east and west on Highway 24. Major airlines fly into Colorado Springs Airport, making it a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the Denver airport.
