Dr. Seuss Traveling Sculpture Garden Dr. Seuss Traveling Sculpture Garden on display at Hotel del
Category: San Diego Arts and Craft in California User Rating: Be the first to write a review for Dr. Seuss Traveling Sculpture Garden!
Description of this San Diego Attraction: The Dr. Seuss Traveling Sculpture Garden is currently being featured at the landmark Hotel del Coronado. For the first time, the public has unfettered access to the most famous characters created by Dr. Seuss as part of a national touring sculpture garden. The Hotel del is the first location in the U.S. to host this exciting exhibit - the 5’ and 8’ bronze sculptures will be available for public viewing at the famous Hotel del through the end of June.
The Cat in the Hat, the Grinch, Sam I Am from Green Eggs and Ham, Yertle the Turtle and the Lorax (Seuss’s groundbreaking environmental book) will be immortalized as bronze sculptures as a tribute to the literary and artistic legacy of Dr. Seuss aka Theodor Seuss Geisel.
Ted Geisel wrote 44 books between 1937 and 1990, changing the way generations of children learned to read. While his most prominent legacy is in children’s literacy, his artistic legacy continues to cross over generations and genres impacting the worlds of art, literature, pop and high culture. Many of today’s top talents pay tribute to Dr. Seuss as a key influence in their own artistic development. As Dr. Seuss said, “Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living; it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.” This exhibit is in recognition of Seuss’ creative talent and an opportunity for the public to enjoy the life principals expressed and memories associated with his books and art.
