The Annie Oakley Center was opened to the public in 2005. The center is composed of three areas: the fame and fortune hallway, Annie's family and personal life and her professional life with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Many of the artifacts have never before been put on public display. This is the world's largest known collection of Annie Oakley memoribilia.
Crossroads of Destiny is a new exhibit that opened in 2008. Beginning with a premier display of prehistoric tools, the exhibit leads the visitor into the chronicles of Anthony Wayne, Tecumseh, Little Turtle, Blue Jacket, and many other famous frontier legends that participated in the events that formed the Treaty of Greene Ville in 1795.
Other exhibits within the museum collection are the Zachary Lansdowne and USS Shenandoah display, and the Lohmann Brothers telescope display. The museum also houses many early farm implements, early household appliances and other artifacts concerning early Darke County life including a large display of military uniforms dating from the war of 1812.
The Darke County Genealogy library is housed within the museum containing over 5000 surname files, family histories, court records, and other records of interest to persons researching family history.
Garst Museum has five wings and 33,000 square feet of exhibition galleries. You are welcome!!!
