Reviews for Kentucky Opry
|
| *** | If you ever find yourself stuck in the black-hole of Draffenville,Ky on a Saterday night and do not want to watch the tube. Then the Kentucky Opry is the place to go. To us it was not a Branson style music show as they said in their brochure or fast pace. It was a bunch of locals getting together to have fun with Clay Cambell(owner) for two hours. We went because the brochure brought back memories of the great shows we saw at the Lee Mace's Ozark Opry that ran six nights a week for over fifty years in Lake of the Ozarks,Mo. This show did not live-up to those shows. The show may had been better if their main comic had been there! He reminded us of Bill "Goofer" Atterberry on the brochure. If you have children this show is clean, but it is not as entertaining to young folks like how the Ozark Opry was. But,it still is the best show in town...there is no others.

| *** | You gotta check out this Kentucky Opry. It is the best dang country show in the area. Yes it is a bunch of local entertainers-but they are really toe tappin' pickin' good when they're chicken Skinner ham hot! Thier Bill Anderson radio add maybe corny, but thier show an't. They an't a hillbilly show as many a tourist may expect. They got no jug or warshtub-base playing on their stage! If you want that with hillbilly bluegrass go see the old time hillbilly/hockums from Ky ,"The Dirt Daubers" with front man Col JD Wilkes who makes bluegrass cool again............Mr Clay Cambell and the Ky Opry Band makes country music fun. However they could use more comedy. I only laughed one sock off! If Scottie Henson is there, you are in for a treat or should I say some corn. He is 'Hee Haw" funny-I mean it in a good way. Scottie knocked both of my socks off! So I bought his CD and a pair of new socks. Since moving here from Hollywood,CA I have been to this show five times,so now it is your turn to see why they have been in show biz for the past 21 years. They have out lasted 'Kaintuck Territory' the best thing ever in the area by nine years. Be sure to all-so check out,"Kentucky Shores","Maggie Jungle Golf &Zoo","Forgotton Past & History Museum","The Hitching Post","Apple Valley Roadside Attraction & Toyland" and "Henson Broom Shop["(Where brooms are made for Hollywood biz) while in the area. Oh,don't miss the free bluegrass at the Kentucky Opry on the first Friday of the month. That tis right, FREE !!! | Male between 26 and 55 | 09-17-09 |
